Everything you need to sign paperless

Handwritten signature or BCCR-certified digital signature, history and verification, and technical security on a single platform.

Two ways to sign, both with legal validity

Sign in your own hand right in the browser —drawing your signature, with no certificate or install— or with a certified digital signature from the Central Bank of Costa Rica (BCCR). The certified signature is bound to your identity and, under Law 8454, holds the same legal value as a handwritten signature. Both are logged and verifiable by third parties.

  • Handwritten signature drawn in the browser, no certificate or install
  • BCCR-certified digital signature: same legal value as handwritten (Law 8454)
  • The certified signature requires a BCCR card (Costa Rica only)
  • Every signature is logged and verifiable by third parties

Desktop signer with your BCCR card

The signature is applied from your own computer with the ArcaSign signer and your BCCR digital signature card. The private key never leaves the card: the document is signed locally and only the already-signed PDF travels to the cloud. Before signing you can place a visible seal on the page, and the PAdES signature is embedded in the file, verifiable in any reader.

  • Sign with your physical BCCR card and its PIN
  • The private key never leaves the card (PKCS#11)
  • Draggable visible seal on the PDF before signing
  • PAdES signature with timestamp (RFC 3161) embedded in the file

History and verification

Every signature is logged: who signed, when, and from which IP. And anyone can verify a document signed in ArcaSign to confirm it is authentic and has not been altered, with no account needed.

  • Log of every signature: who, when and from which IP
  • Public verification of the signed document, no account
  • Confirms the file is authentic and was not altered
  • Valid as proof of the signature before third parties

Technical security from the infrastructure

All documents are stored encrypted at rest with AES-256 and travel encrypted over TLS 1.3. The infrastructure runs behind Cloudflare, with DDoS protection and continuous monitoring.

  • AES-256 encryption at rest and in transit
  • TLS 1.3 for all transfers

Timestamp (TSA · RFC 3161)

In addition to the BCCR certificate, each signature receives a timestamp issued by an external, independent Time-Stamping Authority (TSA). This guarantees that the document existed at exactly that moment, even if the ArcaSign system ceased to exist.

  • TSA seal independent of ArcaSign
  • Proof of existence at an exact moment
  • Resistant to retroactive tampering
  • Compatible with international RFC 3161 standards
